(no subject)

I totally know nothing about photography so I have no idea why this picture my friend took is a really good photo, but it clearly is. MAYBE I SHOULD LEARN THIS SHIT SOMEDAY.

They're making a prequel to The Thing. Now The Thing is a fantastic film—interesting premise, horror effects that actually stand up after nearly thirty years, and character motivations that make sense throughout—and it actually hints at an entire story that clearly took place before the film, so this could be awesome. Unfortunately we already know how that story ends and the alien gets away after killing everybody. Everybody dies in The Thing, too, but at least they probably got the damn thing and we didn't know it was coming! Unless, uh, you go see it now, after reading that. But that movie is older than me, man, if you were going to watch it you probably would have by now.

Apparently it's a popular year to raid my favorite sci-fi films, since I guess they're also redoing Total Recall. Except they cast Colin Farrell instead of Arnold Schwarzenegger and aren't even going to Mars, so maybe this is more of a Remake In Name Only.

I'm supposed to be writing this essay in Chinese about America and nostalgia and the economy. I have a feeling that writing "以前不錯，現在很差了。" and calling it a day isn't gonna fly.
