my theory is they have more money and leisure in the first place, especially in China. with (mainland) Chinese people, they need to be making money, and no one believes (pop) music is worth the gamble.

also, better education = more perceived intelligence, and better living conditions = healthier people, especially through puberty = more attractive people. hence, more US-born pop stars.

but that's just my theory.
