Oh god this morning I feel so much better it's honestly a relief—like, I didn't feel like I was walking on air or anything. In fact I hit my snooze button twice and then dragged myself out of bed in order to be ten minutes late to my morning Chinese class, where I passed out on my desk during break. But! That's actually very normal. I was totally normally tired and irritable for most of the day and I made it to all of my classes, my biweekly language exchange and I even squeezed in watching Thor: Tales of Asgard again with [livejournal.com profile] asgardianing. It's still just as terrible, and man if I was still into fandom I'd totally app that Loki somewhere. He is so adorable. He'd find an MCU!Thor and make this face at him and LOLs would be had by all.

On the more serious side of the news, I'm unwitting carrying out what I have decided to call the Headphone Massacre. Three pairs in the last two weeks have been destroyed by me somehow, and two of those were brand fucking new. Well I know how, I sat on one and bit through the wires of another and I stepped on the cord of the last ones while I was standing up, ripping the headphone jack out completely. Now I have no headphones and I want to replace them so I can actually listen to my iPod, but would I be buying a replacement, really? Or would I be buying another victim.

Someday I am going to do a longass anal THE MORE YOU KNOW: LINGUISTICS post on why "I could care less" and "I couldn't care less" mean exactly the same thing and linguistic prescriptivism in general, but I have an exam tomorrow so today is not that day.

So I spent tonight (and most of today) in bed because I am lazy, except today I had a justifiable laziness! By which I mean I was having a mild asthma attack for most of the day and the lack of breathing air sort of takes a lot out of you, like the motivation to live, and I spent three hours in Chinese class anyway. I almost blacked out standing up once, which is the second time that's happened to me in the space of a week and a half, which sort of makes me wonder if my body has a secret, burning desire to see the inside of a Taiwanese hospital before I go home. (Going to the hospital here isn't like it is in the States; it's like vaguely equivalent to doctor's appointment-worthy things back at home.

But still.)

I did something worthwhile with my time instead of moving and downloaded Thor: Tales of Asgard. AKA, Thor and somebody who weirdly has the same name as his brother Loki have adolescent adventures in killing people and feeling bad about it. cuts in case you care about being spoiled for this stupid movie, and long post is long )

By the way, I saw Thor over the weekend and I really really liked it—like, maybe if it was stand alone I wouldn't have liked it so much but I'm a sucker for the Marvel movieverse like you wouldn't believe. Weirdly I thought the weakest part of the film was Loki, which to my surprise is everybody else's favorite part—I mean the guy's a great actor so I mostly blamed Branaugh for the bizarre inconsistencies, much as that pained me, since I like most of what Branaugh did a lot. BUT LIKE, watched the interviews and stuff, it seems they worked really hard to Loki so I really really want to pull a coherent characterization of this guy out of the movie.

THE FILM MAKES THIS HARD, THOUGH.

SPOILERS FOR THOR OBVIOUSLY ) This is just bad writing, I tell myself. NO, my brain says. THERE IS A STORY IN HERE. THESE PIECES CLEARLY MAKE A STORY THAT MAKES SENSE.

It doesn't, though. I start to think I pick my fandoms not just because they are corny and crazily unevenly written, but because of this fact.

While we're on the topic of plotholes pretty minor spoiler )

I have only seen this movie once and I cannot see it again probably until it is out on DVD. Nooooo.
